sample campaign: love is the message

Week 1: teaser

A retro, lo-fi video that rooted the event in a real moment in disco history: The Gallery in NYC.

It paired archival club footage with a custom mashup of "Love Is the Message" by MFSB and "Soul Makossa" by Manu Dibango, and revealed the event date. It set the tone for the campaign, built early curiosity, and got people talking.

week 2: official flyer launch

STORY FORMAT:

The flyer and official lineup dropped as a tabloid newspaper front page, styled like a headline announcing a travelling act coming to town.

The design drew on classic photos of dancers in early NYC disco clubs and nodded to The Gallery's bullseye and arrow logo. Date, location, time and cast and other key information were all announced stylistically in a way that felt like part of the art itself, rather than tacked on details.

week 3 : THEME MOODBOARD

Always highly anticipated, the moodboard gives attendees inspiration for their party outfits. The Cirque Du Slay theme built on what the flyer teased: the circus is coming to town, and you're part of it. This theme was an absolute hit. 274 Likes, 159 Shares, 22K Views

week 4 : behind the beat

week 4 : behind the beat

Each campaign includes Behind the Beat, a recurring educational series on the queer history of dance music culture. This year it covered The Gallery and The Loft in NYC. It is the heart of One Big Gay Disco and keeps our ethos, "A Celebration of Love's Unstoppable Groove," front and centre.
